It's amazing to me how people can let properties fall into disrepair that extent!

In the guy's defense, he bought my house when the economy was good in 2002 and I think he spent some money improving it. But a lot of us got out over our skis in the Great Recession, and Toledo really didn't recover well. Place looks pretty nice now under the present owner.

The house that was torn down, by the way, had a nice older couple in it who rented it the whole time I lived there. But they moved away and who knows what happened there.

One big change in that neighborhood: it was still mainly owner-occupied while I lived there, now it's more rentals.
