Where are the riots?
If you had listened to the Left, you'd have thought New York would be destroyed by now.
If we jumped in the Wayback Machine like Mr. Peabody and Sherman could and go back to change the Trump verdict to not guilty, this would likely be the scene:
(CNN live shot of street near courthouse, random commercial building smoldering in the background with rioters running to and fro)
CNN anchor Bob: “So how are things looking out there, Keisha?”
Reporter Keisha: “Well, Bob, so far it’s been a peaceful protest of the Trump verdict. We haven’t heard of any arrests, as Mayor Adams declared these peaceful protestors should be given their space.”
(Mob of protestors approach camera from behind corner of adjacent building, yelling and throwing things)
“Let’s see if we can hear what they’re saying…”
(Hard thump of a brick hitting the camera and operator and remote feed goes black)
“Keisha? Keisha? We seem to have lost Keisha. So let’s go to our guests from the SPLC and ACLU, talking about the unfairness of the verdict and how it proves our justice system can be bought.”
Well, for those of you who thought Manhattan would still be burning, we hate to disappoint you. However, I’m not sure just how much patience remains among those of us who thought the trial was a sign of our descent into banana republic status. Given what Joe Biden has done to America over the last 3 1/2 years, if the election doesn’t come off without a hint of suspicion about the outcome, some may trade in the ballot box for the cartridge box. And the sad thing is that it’s more likely in the event of a Trump re-election than a Biden one, given the number of arrests at the first Trump inauguration (most of whom had charges dropped, and no one went to jail.)
But this may call for a history lesson. When Abraham Lincoln won the presidency in 1860 as the plurality leader of four contenders, it took a month and a half for South Carolina to leave the Union, followed quickly by six other Southern states. By the time Lincoln took office in March 1861 the nation was on the verge of war over slavery and state’s rights to secede.
So if we were to plunge into war, what would the subject be? Would it be abortion, or the perception of a two-tiered justice system, or the tyranny of the executive branch? Would it be strictly red state vs. blue state, or would it be pockets of influence? (Sort of like the situation on the Delmarva in the first War Between the States, where Maryland and Delaware remained Union states but had a lot of Confederate fighters hail from the area.)
Perhaps our biggest worry should be that of foreign influence trying to exploit the conflict for their purposes. Having a vast ocean on either side of us won’t be as advantageous this time.
The best thing we can do right now is pray for a result everyone can accept because it was counted in a transparent fashion, not with advantages given to one side or the other.
Until next time, remember you can Buy Me a Coffee since I have a page there.
The delusional that think Trump supporters are some rabid mindless sheeple like they are were certainly shocked New York didn't burn. The agreement from people of all races and backgrounds that they support Trump is certainly going to make it difficult to create enough votes to rig the election. What is disturbing is the message from a Biden campaign person that they "will do whatever it takes" to take out Trump. Miracles happen all the time. Certainly when America was created and long after. I think there are still a few left for us.
It would not be the same if he had been found “not guilty”….
